A Four-Week Summer Academic Camp

Rev Up Your Reading 2020 is almost full!

The application deadline for our 16th annual Summer Camp is June 1, 2020. Our Summer Camp fills up very quickly, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Summer Camp will be July 6 to July 31, 2020, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at our office location (1907 NE 45th Ave, Portland). It is a day camp so your child will be home every afternoon.

*As of May 15, we still intend to offer Summer Camp in 2020. We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and will provide updates to registered families as soon as possible.

We anticipate having room for 24 students. Additional applications received will be added to our waiting list. The tuition for the month-long intensive instruction is $2,400.00. A $500.00 deposit is required at the time the application is submitted. The remaining balance is due by June 15, 2020.

Summer Camp is open to students entering First Grade up to students entering Sixth Grade. Summer Camp instruction consists of individual Orton-Gillingham tutoring paired with small group sessions for composition, penmanship, and mathematics.

A reading and spelling assessment is required for enrollment, to help familiarize our staff with your child’s current skills and abilities. This skills testing is included with camp tuition – there is no extra charge for the skills assessment for Summer Camp.

We will contact you to schedule an appointment in May or June.  Assessment time is about 30 to 40 minutes.  Your deposit will be refunded if The Blosser Center determines that your student would not benefit from the program.

No professional academic and cognitive testing for learning disabilities is required for Summer Camp.  However, if parents plan or suspect they will want to continue tutoring after Summer Camp, The Blosser Center requires that complete testing be done and the results reviewed by our Clinical Director. A list of recommended testers can be found on our Resources page.
